Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma cracked half-centuries as India recorded its maiden win of the England tour with a six-wicket thrashing of Sussex in a rain-affected practice game. The two talented youngsters put on 104 for the third wicket in inspiring style as the Indians chased down the revised target of 235 with 4.1 overs to spare after the game was reduced to 45 overs.

Sussex was 236 all out with R.P. Singh picking up four wickets. Indians looked in control though Sachin Tendulkar (21) left early. Parthiv Patel made 55 while Kohli (71) and Rohit (61 not out) toyed with a standard home attack. Kohli's knock came off 83 balls and included six fours and a six while Rohit's unbeaten 61 off 65 balls were studded with eight fours and a six.

Tendulkar played some excellent shots before spooning a catch to mid-off against left-arm paceman Chris Liddle. He hit four fours in his 17-ball knock. The two Indian spinners, Amit Mishra and R. Ashwin, bowled efficiently without appearing threatening at any stage.
