Somerset knocked out Auckland Aces from the Champions League T20 on Tuesday evening here at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium, Hyderabad.
In a Pool B qualifying match, Somerset clinched the cliffhanger by four wickets. Chasing a target of 126 runs, Somerset reached home in the last ball finish. For Somerset, James Hildreth made 34 while Steve Snell remained unbeaten on 34. Earlier, Auckland won the toss and decided to bat against Somerset. Riding high on Lou Vincent's unbeaten 47 runs, Auckland managed to put some combating target of 125 on board.
On sluggish pitch, Somerset spinners and medium pacers made the best use of the track and reduced Auckland for 14/3. However, Vincent and skipper Gareth Hopkins (22) helped kiwis side to combine the innings. After Hopkins' dismissal, Auckland lost wickets on regular intervals. Kylie Mills (10) and Andre Adams (13 not out) made essential contribution at the end.
