Australia skipper, Michael Clarke was signed up with Indian Premier League franchise Pune Warriors for the fifth season in this tournament. The captain of Pune Warrior, Sourav Ganguly, who has impressed with Clarke's good show in the series against with India, approached that the Australian captain with a deal even though he doesn't play T20s for Australia.
The edition of the league 2012 will be Clarke's at first season, as he has always being reluctant to play in the cash-rich league as he wanted to give priority in his national commitments. it was also being rumoured that the franchises was not willing to pay him the base price he had set for himself.
Clarke was join the Pune Warriors side only for the second half in the tournament as Australia will be set to play the Test series in the West Indies.

The IPL CEO Mr.Sundar Raman was confirmed the development at his twitter page, saying that "Michael Clarke will be play for Pune warriors india in IPL 2012.".
Clarke's presence will boost the Ganguly-led side, as it has lost key players including previous year's captain Yuvraj Singh (health issues). All the rounder James Hopes was also been ruled of the entire league because of the injury.
