Virender Sehwag likely return to action

Mumbai Indians face Delhi Daredevils; they would have been definite favourites. The Delhi Daredevils looked harshly depleted in the first two games, with their best batsman and bowler missing in action. Star dasher Virender Sehwag was out with back spasms, while pace ace Morne Morkel was demanding playing the domestic T20 competition back home in South Africa.

Royal Challengers Bangalore, motivated by Chris Gayle and grateful to Vinay Kumar, made a winning start to their IPL 6 battle in nail-biting manner by beating Mumbai Indians by two runs over at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Defending 10 runs off the last over of Mumbai's innings, Vinay removed half-centurion Dinesh Karthik and Ambati Rayudu in consecutive deliveries.

The match was beginning to the equal battle following Karthik's attack on Daniel Christian in a 24-run 17th over, but when Jaydev Unadkat conceded just seven from the second to last the responsibility was on Vinay. He managed to keep his cool, and how. But Bangalore's win would not have been possible without the batting heroics of the Chris Gayle made 92 off 58 balls; the rest of the Bangalore batsmen managed 48 off 62.

For Delhi Daredevils star player Kevin Pietersen will miss the entire competition due to a knee injury, while Jesse Ryder was situate to fly to India before being assaulted in Christchurch. The franchise has now replaced him with the Australian batsman Ben Rohrer, but their difficulty does not end there. Virender Sehwag, who captained Daredevils last year, is also uncertain for the opening game with a back spasm.

Knight Riders also doesn’t have a completely fit squad at their removal either. Brendon McCullum is yet to join the squad in India. James Pattinson, the Australia fast bowler, is resting at home following the Test tour of India. The IPL 2013 matches in Chennai will not aspect any Sri Lankan cricketers or match officials, the league's governing council said after a meeting. It said the conclusion was taken keeping in mind security concerns in Chennai.

The Governing Council met to discuss the issue of SL Players participation in IPL.  The security of all concerned in the IPL, whether players, audience or those working in the stadiums, is of supreme importance to the BCCI. The Governing Council decided that Sri Lankan players will not participate in the Pepsi IPL 2013 League matches in Chennai and will advise the nine franchises consequently.

Kevin Pietersen has been ruled out of cricket for up to two months by the knee injury which has been worrying him during the New Zealand tour. He will miss the settle on Test in Auckland as well as the IPL with a vision to him being fit for the Champions Trophy and the Ashes. The predictable recovery time makes Pietersen doubtful for the return series against New Zealand, beginning on May 16 at Lord's.

Rajasthan Royals have declared the signing of four players for the sixth season of the IPL: Sachin Baby, the skipper of Kerala's limited-overs side, wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, Jharkhand pace bowler Rahul Shukla and Left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh.

Baby, who made his first-class debut in 2009, was the fourth-highest run-getter in just finished Vijay Hazare trophy, in which his century in the quarter-finals assist Kerala qualify for the final four. Though his first-class record does not stand out, he has executed well in the 15 First class career games he has played averaging 44.72.

Bangladesh Cricket Board will decide on Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal's participation in the Indian Premier League after conversation with the team administration as the competition conflict with Bangladesh's tour to Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe tour begins on April 13 and ends on May 12, while the IPL is scheduled between April 3 and May 26.

Shakib and Tamim, who play for Kolkata Knight Riders and Pune Warriors respectively, will have two options before and after the Zimbabwe tour throughout which they can play four games for their franchise. However, the players require a No opposition Certificate from the board to participate in the IPL.

Ashish Nehra and Kiwis Ross Taylor have deal places with Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors India agreeing to create use of the Player Trading Window for the sixth edition of the IPL. Nehra, who played for Mumbai Indians in the opening 2008 edition, played for Daredevils in 2009 and 2010. 

The left-arm fast bowler was part of the Pune Warriors squad for 2011 but fail to spot the season due to injury. He played for the Pune franchise last year. Taylor, a previous New Zealand captain, joined Daredevils last year after playing one season for Rajasthan Royals. He stands for Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2008 to 2010

BCCI may force Indian Premier League franchise Rajasthan Royals to move matches out of their home city of Jaipur in what could be a twice bluster for the former champions. The Royals, who are already planning to competition an $18.8 million fine handed down earlier this week by Enforcement Directorate for breaking foreign exchange rules, have been given by the BCCI with its stadium owners.

Royals, champion of First season in 2008 under then-captain Shane Warne, is previously facing a difficult time after the fine announced by the Enforcement Directorate. The Indian cricket board has been deemed to be not entitled for certain income tax benefits since a change of its objectives in 2006 and the organization of the profitable and cash-rich IPL.

Former New Zealand cricket coach John Wright on the comeback track and will return to India to coach in the IPL-6 season. Wright was declaring as head coach of the Mumbai Indians team for the sixth version of the beneficial Twenty20 competition, which begins on April 3.

He had a winning period as coach of the Indian team from 2000-2005 and direct his home country for 18 months until July last year. Wright is highly regarded in India, having control over a successful period for the national team in both test and ODI - they won a home test series against Australia, drew an away series in Australia, and make the final of the 2003 World Cup during his tenure.

The IPL Player sale 2013 will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the ITC Grand Chola, Chennai, and a media release said. The proceedings will begin at 11:00 am. Kumble had been share the same post at the Royal Challengers Bangalore for two years, while former South Africa skipper Shaun Pollock, played that role for MI till last season.
