Kevin Pietersen will almost surely return to the England team in the first Test against India in Ahmedabad, after the England Cricket Board ended his 67 days by finally and officially welcoming him back. Hugh Morris, the managing director of England cricket, confirmed after a board meeting that the team director, Andy Flower, had judged Pietersen's "process of reintegration" suitably successful for the batsman to be recalled for the tour of India.

Pietersen had flown to England from South Africa on Monday for talks with Flower, the new Test captain, Alastair Cook, and other key players and coaches the major part of the reintegration process announced by the ECB chairman, Giles Clark. The batsman returned to South Africa to rejoin the Delhi Daredevils in front of their next game in the Champions League Twenty20 on Friday.
