Dominika Cibulkova came from a set down to claim her first WTA Tour title with a 3-6 7-6 (7/1) 7-5 win over Kaia Kanepi at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow. The number eight seed knew she would be facing a tough face against her opponent, who had beaten Francesca Schiavone and Svetlana Kuznetsova, both ranked in the world top 20, en route to the final.

It was the Estonian Kanepi who came out dismissal and claimed the opening set with a break in the fourth game. Both women held serve in the second set and had a chance to move within sight of win when she forced break point at 5-5.However, the world number 43 came to the net and missed narrowly with an overhead and Cibulkova held as did Kanepi to move into a tie-break.

Kanepi then lost seven consecutive points as Cibulkova eased through the tie-break. The third set remained on serve until 3-3 when five breaks followed which saw Cibulkova move to 6-5 ahead, and the Slovakian horrible a cross-court forehand for which Kanepi had no answer to claim victory in two hours and 36 minutes.
