Ajantha Mendis has been included in Sri Lanka's 16-man Test squad for the tour of South Africa in December ahead of Suraj Randiv. Athletic Bilbao continued to climb up the table with a 2-1 victory away to Sevilla on Sunday which put it in sixth place of Spanish League. Osasuna drew 0-0 with Rayo Vallecano while it was also goalless between Real Sociedad and Espanyol, which moved onto the outer edge of the European places with 17 points.

India has beaten only two series. It's an amazing statistic given how progressively difficult India have become to defeat at home. All-rounder Shahid Afridi scored a half-century before taking five wickets to steer Pakistan to a hard fight 26-run win in the fourth day-night match over Sri Lanka at Sharjah stadium on Sunday. Afridi helped Pakistan recover from a struggling 120-7 to 200 all out with a 65-ball 75 before he derailed Sri Lanka by taking 5-35 to dismiss them for 174 in 45.2 overs, giving his team an unquestionable 3-1 lead in the five-match series. The victory leaves the fifth and final game at Abu Dhabi on Wednesday as unimportant. The sides will also play a Twenty20 international at Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini has signed a new five-year contract which ties him to the club until the summer of 2016. Conjecture over the Belgium midfielder's future had been growing over current weeks even though he had 18 months remaining on his existing deal. The Trinidadian top-order batsman Jason Mohammed and spinner Sunil Narine - were the new faces in West Indies' 15-man squad for the five-match ODI series in India. Jessica Ennis may extend her career after London's successful bid to stage the 2017 World Championships. The Sheffield heptathlete had intended to retire after the 2016 Rio Olympics. But Ennis, 25, who won gold at the Worlds in Berlin in 2009 and silver in Daegu this year, says the statement could see her carry on a further year. She told : "The fact that there will now be a World Championships on home soil the next year will maybe change my thinking.

"I hope [31] is not too old and there is still some life in my bones. Upul Tharanga made 77 and fast bowler Lasith Malinga claimed three wickets on Monday to lead Sri Lanka to a 25-run win over Pakistan to level the ODI series at 1-1.

Tharanga and Mahela Jayawardene (50) ensured Sri Lanka reached 235-7 in the second match. Pakistan spinners Saeed Ajmal ended with 3-61 and Shahid Afridi 2-35. Malinga took two wickets in his first over in capturing 3-31 as Pakistan was bowled out for 210 off 46.3 overs, with Umar Akmal (91) the only Pakistani batsman to score more than 30.

Pakistan's chase was quickly spoiled by the Malinga, who removed Mohammad Hafeez and Younis Khan by catches from wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara. Blackburn boss Steve Kean has signed a new contract at Ewood Park, according to sources in the UK. The 44-year-old's job has been on the line after an unsatisfactory start to the Barclays Premier League season. The Rovers are now second-bottom after gaining just six points in the opening 11 games. Demonstrations against Kean by a section of Blackburn fans have piled additional pressure on the English coach.

And not even a ban against the demonstrations could stop them as they hired an aircraft to display a banner "Steve Kean Out" during Saturday's defeat to Chelsea. Now according to The Daily Mirror, the club's Indian owners have handed Kean the strongest possible vote of assurance by handing him an improved contract. Wales will again be with no James Collins when they face Norway at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday after the Aston Villa defender withdrew from Gary Speed's squad. Collins, 28, has not played for his country since the 2-0 Euro 2012 qualifying defeat against England in March, and withdrew from last month's meetings with Bulgaria and Switzerland due to a knee problem.

And Collins, who has seen Cardiff young person Darcy Blake impress in his absence, will be missing this weekend after the Football Association of Wales exposed the list of withdrawals from Speed's original 24-man panel on their website.
