Australia opener Matthew Hayden will not participate in the Big Bash League this year, after announcing his retirement from all forms of cricket. Hayden, 40, had quit international cricket in 2009. "This is the end - for me, it's back to the beach and to the other side of the cricket fence," Hayden was quoted as saying. "The cricket bats and balls get restore with fishing rods and reels, surfboards and utensils."

Hayden said while the conclusion was a difficult one to make, he will be related to his BBL franchise, the Brisbane Heat, in an executive form. "I will be pursuing my initial intention and agreement with the Heat of touching from the pitch to the boardroom, where I hope to continue to make a significant part to the BBL and the Brisbane Heat," Hayden said.
